COVID-19 Update Tuesday 24 March 2020

Tuesday, 24 March 2020

Clinpath Pathology remains vigilant in the management of risks that have the potential to impact our ability to operate. On advice from the SA Health Communicable Disease Control Branch, Clinpath Pathology continues to be unable to test for the COVID-19 virus. All patients are ‘screened’ by our own Collector prior to any test.

Collection Centre Management Update

Each day we hear of how local medical practices are managing their patients and we continue to be inspired by your actions. From the correct hygiene procedures, to screening patients as they enter, to the 1.5m chair distance rule, to operating and triaging from car parks and the telehealth options.

We have been impressed with how our staff have stepped up to the challenge of supporting your practices, and in turn, we have been supporting them behind the scenes in every way possible. If at any stage you feel you need to discuss anything with us, please contact your Client Liaison representative or myself direct.

Know, that when a site is required to close or should your site have to close, we add a note to our website, “This centre is closed until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience.” and we have a list of alternate Collection Centres a patient may visit at the ready via our Client Services team (08 8366 2000).

Our Couriers are working as quickly as possible to get our various communications out to our Collection Centres, especially when a site closes – within traffic and speed limits. One silver lining is the reduction of cars on the road.

Rest assured we have working together to support your patients.

Elderly, Oncology and Immune Compromised Patients

From medical practitioners, aged care operators and to those of our patients who are immune compromised, we have been taking enormous steps to provide safe, healthy locations that provide back up and options the public need from its  Pathology partners.

We encourage these patients to use our Green Fields (North location) or Parkside “Clarity House” (East of CBD location) Collection Centres.

Standalone Flu/Respiratory Testing Centres

During a regular week ie not Easter or Anzac hours, all patients presenting with flu like symptoms or who have a request for respiratory testing are asked to attend a standalone Collection Centre. The list is available on our website:

All staff working at one of these Flu/Respiratory standalone sites are provided with full PPE and we monitor and check in on their own health and wellbeing. We also offer staff rotations and rostering checks to ensure staff have breaks.

Once again, we encourage you to stay aware of our directives, either via this medium, your BD Client Liaison Rep, or our website.

Kind regards,

Brooke Kenny
