*New* COVID-19 Auslan Service

COVID-19 has presented unique challenges to those who are disabled, elderly at home, mobility impaired, and immune compromised. During the pandemic, we have listened to our staff to adapt our services – and in this instance, staff member Alexandra shared her experience as a deaf person in the community and how difficult the language barrier had become for those being tested. As a result, she asked to train as a COVID-19 tester, with the view to supporting the deaf community. This willingness to support the deaf community, has given us the unique opportunity to welcome deaf or those who are hard of hearing to use our new COVID-19 Auslan Service at the Mile End Drive Through Station. The service is available on Tuesday and Thursday and is currently operating between 8am - 1pm. Bookings are required.

 

COVID-19 Collection Locations Updates

We have expanded our Mile End Drive Through Station hours. This site now opens Monday – Saturday 8am – 4pm and on Sunday 8am – 1pm

Further expanding our COVID-19 collection centre locations, our new drive through station at Elizabeth Park, 1 Gould Rd, Elizabeth Park will open Monday 10 August to support those north of the city.

 

Serology Testing

Accurate testing is crucial for the diagnosis and management of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease (COVID-19). SA Health has developed a policy position on the use of COVID-19 serology testing. This guidance states that SARS-CoV-2 serology plays no role in diagnosis of acute COVID-19. Serology requests must be approved by:

  • a clinical microbiologist, or
  • an infectious disease physician, or
  • a Communicable Disease Control Branch medical officer (1300 232 272).

As a service to our clients, Clinpath ask that you contact Dr Jhumur Roy, our clinical microbiologist, to discuss requesting this test in future, or follow SA Health guidelines.
