Operational Update 15 04 2020 - COVID-19 Testing
Since our first letter to you back in March, we have consistently reinforced our stance to provide patients with routine pathology collection services, to review our pathology services to ensure the continuity of patient care, and to support your efforts during these challenging times.
Our focus has been to support where we can, when we can and to remain flexible during this pandemic. We have to date increased our mobile Collection service, named specific Collection Centres for the purpose of supporting those in the community who are immune compromised or oncology patients, and have allocated Collection Centres specifically for flu/respiratory tests.
We are keeping patients safe, encouraging them to maintain their health and helping them choose the most appropriate way for them to have their pathology test completed.
Under the advice of the CDC, we have been unable to test in South Australia for COVID-19 to date. However, we have continued to highlight the need to have redundancy strategies in South Australia as an important step to ensure testing levels can be maintained for our state.
Therefore, while we have been monitoring the activity and capabilities of our interstate pathology partners from Sonic Healthcare as they support their local state health departments, we have been actively working on our own strategies to help prevent “community spread”.
For now, rest assured as we move into Adelaide’s regular winter flu season, our collection and laboratory testing practices remain in place, just as much as we encourage patients to remain in place for their own health when they need.
You can also rest assured that Clinpath laboratory testing will include testing for COVID-19 within the coming month, ensuring we can continue to support your practice and patients. This will include testing for all patients with the expanded criteria.
For today, we thank you for your ongoing support of our business. We, like every business across Australia, are embracing new ways of working to beat this pandemic.
We encourage you to stay aware of our directives, either via this medium, your Client Liaison, or our website, here: clinpath.com.au/clinicians/news/
